Born in 1840, Rodin had a tough start in life, struggling with poor eyesight and a lack of encouragement from his teachers.

But Rodin found solace in drawing, which allowed him to see the world in a different way.

Despite facing rejection twice from the Paris Salon, Rodin continued to create, producing his first major work, 'The Mask of the Man with a Broken Nose' (1863-64).

In 1876, Rodin traveled to Italy, where he was inspired by Michelangelo's works, sparking a new passion for sculpture.
