Georgina de Albuquerque, a Brazilian painter and professor, left an indelible mark on the art world.

Born in 1885, Georgina was already painting at 15, studying with Italian artist Rosalbino Santoro.

In 1904, Georgina moved to Rio de Janeiro and enrolled in the National School of Fine Arts.

The couple moved to Paris in 1904, where Georgina became the first Brazilian to enroll in the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.

Georgina's most important work is 'Sessão do Conselho de Estado', a historical scene that decided Brazil's Independence.
