Jackson Pollock, the American painter who shook the art world with his signature style of dripping paint.
Born in Wyoming in 1912, Pollock's family moved around nine times before he was 10 years old.
At 16, Pollock enrolled in the Art Students League in New York, where he studied with Thomas Hart Benton.
In 1936, Pollock met David Alfaro Siqueiros, a Mexican muralist who introduced him to the use of liquid paints.
Pollock's meeting with Lee Krasner in 1942 marked a turning point in his career, as she supported and promoted his art.
