Meet Gabriele Münter, the pioneering German artist who defied conventions with her bold style.
Born in Berlin in 1877, Münter's childhood was marked by comfort and protection.
She began her artistic training in Düsseldorf, studying with Ernst Bosch and enrolling in the Feminine School of the Academy of Arts.
In 1903, Münter met Wassily Kandinsky, with whom she had a secret romantic relationship and traveled extensively throughout Europe and North Africa.
During World War I, Münter and Kandinsky lived apart, but their artistic influence on each other remained strong.
