His art is characterized by dreamlike landscapes, where familiar elements are transformed into surprising and meaningful images.

Kush began painting early in life, studying at the Moscow Art School before moving to the United States, where he continued to develop his distinct style.

His work has been exhibited in galleries worldwide and is cherished by collectors and lovers of surrealist art.

Exploring Vladimir Kush's biography and body of work invites us into a world of imagination and creativity, where reality merges with dreams in a fascinating and inspiring way.

Vladimir Kush is a contemporary artist, classified by many as a surrealist, but he prefers to call himself a "metaphorical realist".

He was born in the Russian capital in 1965, in a neighborhood near Moscow's forest park.

At the age of seven, he began attending regular school and came into contact with art books, where he became familiar with the works of great artists of the Renaissance, the Impressionists, and contemporary artists.

Vladimir enrolled in the Moscow Higher Art and Craft School at 17, but after a year, he was conscripted into the army.

After six months of military training, his unit commander discovered his talent and assigned him to paint propaganda posters.

After his military service, he resumed his artistic career, painting portraits to help his family financially.

In 1987, he began participating in exhibitions organized by the Union of Artists.

In 1990, at an exhibition in Germany, almost all of his displayed paintings were sold.

He then traveled to the United States, beginning his “American Odyssey.”

At the Cannes Festival in 2011, the contemporary artist received the award for best artist in the painting category – "Artistes du Monde."

Vladimir Kush: REALISM OR SURREALISM?

His paintings combine myth, metaphor, and poetry into new forms.

Through the juxtaposition of previously independent objects and the exploration of different viewpoints, his work alludes to deeper meanings.

Some confuse his work with that of Salvador Dalí, the master of surrealism.

In addition to Salvador Dalí, other painters also influenced his work, such as the German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich and the precursor of surrealism, Hieronymus Bosch.

In his paintings, we distinguish the fusion of animated forms with inanimate objects, resulting in the creation of a fantastic image.

Clouds blowing in a vivid blue sky inevitably remind us of the art of René Magritte.

All kinds of visual element combinations lead to a superb result, exciting both the eyes and the soul.

Butterflies also frequently appear in his paintings, as well as in his book "Metaphorical Journey", because, in his mind, butterflies symbolize journey, beauty, and soul.
