With a career spanning over four decades, she left an indelible mark on Brazilian art history.

In 1933, Tarsila, with her social concerns, created the works Operários and Second Class, which she presented at the I Salão Paulista de Belas-Artes.

These works are considered some of the most important of Tarsila do Amaral's career.

In Second Class, the artist shows the rural exodus that follows, when families leave the countryside in search of employment in the big city.

This work is a perfect example of Tarsila's ability to capture the essence of Brazilian life.

The composition Second Class features 14 figures, six children, three men, and five women.

Each of these figures is a representation of Brazilian life.

Behind the family, already outside the train, composed of 11 characters, is the second-class carriage that brought them.

This image is a reminder of the difficult life that many people had to face in Brazil.
