Origin of the two Fridas:

- She must have been six years old when she intensely lived the imaginary friendship with a girl of her age.... I don't remember her image, nor her color. However, I know she was cheerful and laughed a lot. Without sounds. She was agile and danced as if she had no weight. I followed her in all her movements and told her, while she danced, my secret problems. What were they? I don't remember. However, she knew, through my voice, all my things... Diary of Frida Kahlo, about the canvas The Two Fridas (1939)

This work is a reflection of her life divided between pain and hope.

Surprisingly, Frida Kahlo's work is full of details and profound meanings.

Frida kahlo shows herself as a woman divided by the piercing pain of the body and the instability of her relationships, and at the same time intense, passionate, and full of hope.

This work is a reflection of her life divided between pain and hope.

Once again Frida Kahlo used a dress to make a difference in her work, dresses have always been important pieces in the composition of her paintings. In this work, one of the Fridas presents a white dress, with floral details in red, high collar, worked sleeves, perhaps influenced by the trip she had made to Paris. The other Frida wears a daily dress, with strong colors, few details, and a decorated hem, typically a Frida dress.

A striking detail in the painting is the exposure of the heart in both Fridas, which are connected by an artery. The heart of the Frida with traditional clothing appears whole, although outside the body, but whole, while the other is with a broken heart.

Fifteen years after painting "The Two Fridas", the author died after contracting a strong pneumonia. A last note was found in her house, which said:

"I hope my departure is happy, and I hope I never return again".
