BIOGRAPHY
Georgina de Moura Andrade was born on February 4, 1885, in Taubaté, São Paulo.
In 1900, she began her painting studies at the age of 15, taking classes in her own home with the Italian painter Rosalbino Santoro, who taught her the basic principles of painting, such as techniques for mixing colors, as well as the laws of perspective.
In 1904, she moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she enrolled in the National School of Fine Arts.
It was during this period that she met her future husband, Lucílio de Albuquerque, whom she saw for the first time while studying at the National School of Fine Arts.
In the same year, the couple moved to Paris when Lucílio obtained the "Travel Prize" from the National School of Fine Arts, and they remained there for the next five years.
In Paris, Georgina was the first Brazilian to enroll in the National Superior School of Fine Arts (École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts), where she was an apprentice of Paul Gervais and Adolphe Déchenaud.
In 1911, Georgina returned to Brazil and exhibited in São Paulo.
From then on, she regularly participated in exhibitions.

COMMENTED ART
Sessão do Conselho de Estado - Considered her most important work, the artist represented a historical scene that occurred on September 2, 1822, which decided the Independence of Brazil.
The artist considered the rigorous formalism of historical themes that marked national academic production, but we find impressionist characteristics that were her style of painting.
